Did anything come of this? At the moment I can't see any way to put a URL for a GIST into a page without getting the whole thing pulled in. It's pretty horrible.

imagine that someone inserted a link to a gist with some thousands lines of code

It really will be ok, because if I want to share link to my gists library it will replace link name with error message and also break the line. So how actually to turn this off manually?
